Does chromeos on chromebooks use ubuntu?

I am new year; my very first post.

I am not sure which flavor of linux is used in Google chromebooks. I use chromebooks. A 32bit pc Acer shows uname -r = 3.4.0. A 64b Asus shows 3.10.18. Which linux are those?

I have a question about how to run my addon 32b binary on the 64b machine, both chromebooks. First I need to find the right forum

If you do an online search for "what is chrome os", you will get a number of sites like the one below:

The output you get with uname refers to the version of the Linux kernel and it is not Ubuntu.
