can't find nvu

I am new to Ubuntu. I just switched from SUSE9.2 to Ubuntu on my work laptop(Dell 600m).
I have been very impressed by this distro. Everything just seems to click and make sense.
I have been using the unofficial 5.04 guide to setup my laptop.

I have updated, upgraded, and added some apps.
I tried:
sudo apt-get install nvu
and it said this package did not exist or something to that setiment.

I had never heard of the web authoring app before. I just happened to see it in the unofficial guide.
I have always messed around with quanta, screem, and OoO.

I saw the Nvu 1.0 is now available. Is it wise to compile from wild sources, or stick to whats out there in the repositories? (I think I asked that right. ie. compile vs. .deb package.)

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,
Blair

http://www.nvu.com/download.html - there doesn't seem to be a full Debian (.deb) package. The install, however, runs from it's own directory - so it shouldn't interfere with other apps.

Not sure how well Ubuntu plays with 'pure' Debian packages but the 1.0pr is available in Debian Unstable. You could try adding a unstable repository to your sources.list

# Unstable Sid
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
# Unstable Sources
deb-src http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

Thank you for the info.

I am trying to stick with ubuntu packages.
If there was no other option I will compile from src.

I am nervous about using the debian unstable(testing)....not sure if all packages work..

I had a debian ftp rerpository setup I just missed the fact when I ran update it was not getting the public key.)
I have no idea how to fix that. an d too busy to figure it out.

I did find ubuntu backports.
## Backports
deb http://ubuntu-backports.mirrormax.net/ hoary-backports main universe multiverse restricted
deb http://ubuntu-backports.mirrormax.net/ hoary-extras main universe multiverse restricted

I found nvu there.

Thanks,
Blair
