I think I might have figured out your problem. I just got done with a Toshiba laptop and the guide I linked you to earlier did not work.
Here is the driver you need to download. http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/...&GetDown=false Make sure you download this driver,
Quote:
LINUX driver for kernel 3.x and 2.6.x and 2.4.x
Then watch this video. I know the video is for 10.04 but it is still applicable. It worked for me in a current distro.

Hi,

can you confirm that the driver is loading the required firmware? Eg
Code:
dmesg | grep firmware
Evo2.

Hello Rubian,

I follow your advice, installed that driver and rebooted the laptop. Nothing happened , the enable wireless options at the upper right corner of the screen is gray out.

Evo2,

I've runned the command you are asking me no information is display on the xterm

root@evelezp-Presario-CQ43-Notebook-PC:/home/evelezp# dmesg | grep firmware
root@evelezp-Presario-CQ43-Notebook-PC:/home/evelezp#

Any further suggestions will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Today I rebooted the laptop and the "enable wireless" options is no longer gray out, I'm able to check it, however I'm still not able to use the wireless network. If I press the wireless key (F12) fn + F12 , the wireless light on the F12 button does not change from amber to white color.

You need to find the correct driver for your card and install it.

Try Ubuntu 13.10, that might work. I had trouble with my laptop not wanting to install the wireless driver in 12.04.
