After update, mouse, wifi, CD, and USB all stop working

Greetings,
Have Lenovo G505s, with AMD A10 quad core, running Ubuntu 14 32 bit. All was well until I ran some updates and then that was all she wrote. My wifi, mouse, and USB ports all stopped performing, it still reads my CD driive how can I reinstall Ubuuntu from the disc I have.

This happened over a year ago, and now I am trying to save the LT for internet and basic spread sheets.

I cannot figure out how too get boot menu on start-up so I can try too reinstall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
RxN3ST1

Hello and welcome to LQ.

An odd laptop. https://superuser.com/questions/1019...-a-lenovo-g505

This however may not fix your issue.

Try a usb keyboard too.

Thank you for the link. Now I can get into the BIOS menu. I still cannot locate an option to re install from CD which is my only choice at the moment without wireless. I would like to just reinstall the OS.

Any step by step or a a link to show how it to complete this process would be greatly appreciated.
