Active Directory users on Ubuntu computers

Hello all!

I'm helping out to manage the computers at my school. Some weeks ago we decided to try Linux and as the dist we chose Ubuntu, since it's easy to understand.

Well, to the problem. Everyone in the school has their own user with some space on a server to store their files. This is managed by Active Directory. Is there any way to use these users on our Ubuntu computers? What I mean is that you can log in with the same username/password on the Linux computers and can access/write to your folder on the server.

One idea

Thanks for posting this. I am fighting a losing battle to push more open source, and I saw this:

I'd start with System-> Administration-> Shared Folders. The first time you do this Ubuntu will offer to load NFS and or Samba. NFS is what Linux uses and it works well. Samba is for Microsoft access. I don't mess with Windows any more except to check web sites I develop with wine and IE. &.10 is very good about offering to install packages when you try to use them. I've even seen this help on the command line.
