acpi has stopped working

Hello

i`ve been using ubuntu dapper beta for almost a month now.. when i`ve installed it i had acpi working good and turning my lcd screen off after 10 minutes...
after i`ve installed one of the updates it has stopped working and i cant get the screen turned off or the computer go to sleep...

there has been an update for the kernel and update for the x server and for the ati driver which i installed using synaptic. (those things has been updated twice and there was no change)
i tried reeinstalling acpi/acpid/powermgmt-base - that also didnt help
when i do "xset dpms force standby" the screen goes blank for half a second

what can i do to solve this? i`m a little bit lost
thanks

I can only suggest you post this question to the acpi lists... and to the dapper development lists. Chances are a future update will fix this anyway.

I have the same problem. It appears to have happened after 2.6.11.

This worked for me:

add an acpi=force kernel parameter to /boot/grub/menu.lst
