The site wants me to disable my adblock to see the page... and feel guilty for not doing so... goodbye... now in my hosts file, 127.0.0.1.

This is nothing less than putting their site behind a paywall, sorry to see LXer linking to non-free content.

By the way, how does site detects whether adblock installed or not?
By addon name, by it's behaviour, by guid or something else?

Not sure - probably some javascript detection, or maybe they check if some embedded ad was actually delivered and assume some block if not.

Either way it is their revenue model that must change, not my system configs or security habits.

They demand that I deliver value to them before they demonstarte that there is any actual value to me in that page!

An article about security and privace, hosted, designed and managed by free software no doubt, and targeting an audience of free software users... but you have to give up your privacy and security to read it!

What an arrogant sense of entitlement!

A thief depends on stolen goods for his income and operating costs as well, but that doesn't mean I have to feel guilty for locking my doors!

The web, she is a changing...
