Suse 10 not letting user login

All,

Out of the blue, Suse 10 is not letting me log in, I enter the user id and password, and goes right back to the login screen. root and oterh user can log in normal, any idea?

All my settings are with this user ID, so I must find the solution to this problem. Suse was working fine, I turned off the computer, next time I tried to login, it refused to let me login.

Yes, using the command line or init 3 is letting me login.

Exactly the same problem here!

Since today morning I can not log in as my default user using KDM, after some seconds it goes directly back to the login screen root is working fine. Going to 'init 3' and running 'startx' is also working. I do not remember changing any configuration stuff since my last login.

That's exactly my problem! Is Suse some kind on unstable distro? This is not good. I may go back to Mandriva.

Does anybody out there know how to solve this problem??? If I cannot find any solution to this, Suse will be wipe out of my hard drive!

Hi raxxal,

I solved my problem. The resolution was quite simply because the problem was enlisted in ~/.xsession-errors . I don't want to go into details (basically it was a bad LD_LIBRARY_PATH) but maybe your problem is also entered in this file.

Regards

its probably an easy problem. Go into yast. go to security and users. go to user management, click the user thats a problem, click edit and then make sure the disable login box is not selected.

Nope, it's not here. Everything looks fine for the user in Yast.

This is freaking SAD! I have to install the stinky Suse again? I don't know why this distro is not letting me login anymore, and the sad part is that nobody knows how to solve this problem!
It let me login using the command line, but in X it refuses!

You can also get these symptoms if your hard drive (or partition) is full. Run kdf to check your partition space, and ensure you have lots available.

Hard drive is not full. kdf shows plenty of space. Any more ideas?
