Split DVD into CD's?

Hey all!

I just purchased a Linux magazine with the SUSE 9.3 Pro with no support and would like to load this on a computer that has no DVD drive. Can it be split into CD's?

I am using Mandrake right no and wish to try SUSE.

Also anyone faxing things with SUSE???

This must be possible but depending on your internet connection speed it might just be easier and quicker to download the CD's

Well, I am on dialup at home and when I try on DSL at work it gets about 15% done and freezes. I tried several times with no luck, that's why I got the magazine.

Ok, so those of you who are using SUSE these are my questions:

1. Can you fax with no problems using a word processor and print to fax? or how do you do that process?
2. Is there a CAD program that functions with SUSE such as Autocad?
3. Is there an accounting program that can read Quickbooks files?

If the answer can be had for all these questions in the positive, then Windows Dual boot may no longer be needed in my case.

1) I don't have the answer as I've never used Faxes.

2) I found this with a simple google search CAD on Linux QCad probably looks the best this on sourceforge and there is also Blender which could be used in this way.

3) I wonder whether any of these might work?

You could also just use Autocad running it with Wine as this website gives instructions on how to do it.

Since SuSE 10.0 is out I'd be looking to get that instead. There are a number of companies that will sell you cheap CDs if you can't download it.

SuSE 10 has about 4,000 programs on the CDs and I believe I saw a CAD program or two. GnuCash will import Quicken files (is Quickbooks the same format?) and, I think, YAST2 will help you set up faxing. SuSE has good support for Winmodems, but YMMV.

SuSE is one of the best distros out there, so give it a try!

Radiolarian, it's just occured to me, as slow as I am, that if this was possible, how would you actually read the DVD to get the files off of it to split it in to CD's. If that makes sense?

How am I going to read DVD to split? A friend would do that for me. However, since it is Christmas and the family wants to know what to get me..... DVD-RW here I come. Now I just have get the fax thing fixed.

Well have you tried one of the numerous fax utilities that are included with SuSE, starting with the one listed in Yast under networking devices?

In software a search for fax brought up 14 utilities.
