Software updater keeps crashing

I just installed SuSE 10.1 and I notice that there are 4 patches. When I go to the software updater and click to update it, I get this error:

I think they were having problems with their update site. I was getting similar messages until tonight (this morning). Then the thing worked fine, if slow.

Same thing here. Alpha software. I think they got the wrong idea when they started to give away the distro. I wish they carried on selling it. They felt more compelled to make it work.

The release notes talked about a simple registration process which I believe has something to do with this. It can be done from YaST or the command line.
