Saving files very slow on SUSE 10.2

I everybody,

Since I installed SUSE 10.2 I have 2 problem.

Often, very often, too much often when I want to save a file, like an open office document, an email file attachement, or an .txt file to my server its could take a 5 minute to do the saving process.

And also, each time after I started my computer I get this message error:

Quote:
System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required.

Server stack trace:
at Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.PackageManager.GetUpdates (Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Catalog catalog) [0x00000]
at Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.PackageManager.GetUpdates () [0x00000]
at Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.RemotePackageMa
Can you help me please?

Thanks!

Do you save the files to a remote computer? You can ignore the error message. It probably means that zmd-updater was unable to contact some repositories to check for updates.

Have you checked the network connection from the PC to the server? Typing:
Code:
su (enter the root password when prompted)
ethtool eth0
in the console (or konsole)
yields what? Have you checked the same PC's network performance on windows? Do you know what is the type of the network card in your PC? Is the file you are trying to save shared by other users of the network? Is the file server running Windows XP?

Do you connect to the server with the smb kioslave or do you mount the share via CIFS linux kernel support? If you access the share in the one way, can you try the other? Do you use WINS? If you access the share via its IP address, does it still take a long time? Is your DNS server on-line?
