A couple of days ago my laptop unexpectedly shut off while I was running a few programs. Of those programs running was Firefox and Thunderbird. I figure that it shut off because it was getting too hot so I decided to leave it alone. When I came back to use the laptop the next day, I found that Firefox and Thunderbird will not allow me to use the default identity/profile because "its currently in use." I think that the Firefox and Thunderbird might think the profiles are logged in because the laptop was switched off imporperly.
I need help with switching profiles. I made a new temporary profile so that I can at least use Firefox and Thunderbird but I need to access my default profile. I have a lot of saved preferences and information that I cannot lose. How do I change profiles and how do I make linux realize that I'm no longer logged in on the default profiles? I have had this problem for a couple of days and haven't gotten much help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
