printer always shows as paused!

I started linux suse 10.1 not having any problem printing but when I upgraded to linux suse10.3 now every time i try to print something i get a small icon in the lower right panel with a red exclamation point and when I click on it a window will open with the printer showing as paused.
the only way to start the printer is to go to properties and un pause it but I first must log in as root user.

Sounds like an issue with printer setup and user permissions. You will have to go into the CUPS printer administration application to try to change the settings so that normal users have permission to print.

Use any browser. In the URL, enter 'http://localhost:631' to get into the CUPS admin application. I haven't had occaision to access that in quite some time. I beleive you click on Administration or Printer Management. At any rate, once in the application, you can snoop around looking for a solution.
