OK, I can play my mp3 files. I am happy about that.
But if I try to burn a playlist comprised of mp3 files to an audio CD kb3 gives me error messages saying that mp3 is an unsupported file format.
I tried updating the kb3 software using yast, but I get conflict messages.
I'm a little disappointed, I had hoped that I was running out of reasons to boot into window$. I understand that mp3 is not exactly in keeping with the open source credo, but this is Suse retail, with Real Player and a few other non-OSS components.
Originally posted by dth1 You must be missing something on your installation as I have just tried dragging a mp3 file onto a cdr and k3b accepted it fine.
Have you got all the 'mad' rpms installed?
No, I guess I don't. Where can I find them?
BTW, I may be able to burn the mp3 files onto a cd-r, I haven't tried that. that would be akin to making a data CD. I'm trying to make an audio cd, the files would have to be converted into .wav files. I don't know whether the deficiency is with amarok or with k3b.
Thanks for the link. It does look like a great site.
I would like to add that you can add the site to YaST by clicking 'Installation Source' from the YaST control panel, clicking Add and providing the following FTP site:
packman.links2linux.de
/pub/packman/suse/10.0/
You can then pick K3B in YaAST and it will download all the required packages.

Great stuff. This has been bugging me for a while, but I just followed your instructions, and bingo!! K3b is working the way it should be now. Thank you.
