I have recently upgraded my PVR system to OpenSuse 13.2 and struggling to get anywhere with setting up the remote control to work with Kaffeine.
History:
Old Twinhan IR remote on openSuse11 worked as a HID keyboard so it was easy to just map the keystrokes in Kaffeine shortcuts. This only partially worked on the new system. The downside was that if another app had focus it received the keystrokes.
I now have a mceusb receiver(lenovo) and two handsets both RC6, most likely made by Phillips or clones.
Current Status:
1). ir-keytable -t works as expected
2). Starting LIRC as a daemon with the correct event and driver works as expected. (settings placed in etc/sysconfig ... and then service lirc start). Running irw displays the correct keystrokes.
Both of the above options display the correct information when I press buttons.
Kremotecontrol,
Has an icon on the taksbar but does nothing.
set to use devinput as this is the remote name in the remote config file
I mapped some buttons to start up Xterm as a test but nothing happens.
irexec
does nothing
I have obviously missed something here but cant' figure out what.
I have been following the instructions below and have got stuck at the point where it refers to "convert the key symbols to application-specific strings."
http://www.lirc.org/html/configurati...sic-setup-flow
My first option would to be get it working using devinput and kremotecontrol and lirc, irexec as the fallback option.
Any help/pointers where to look/tests/logfiles would be appreciated.
Best Regards
Dave
