Logitech Webcam & ATI AiW 9000. Compatible?

Hi all, newbie here. Just installed openSUSE 10 and I've been working with it, and Linux, for only 2 days- so please be easy on me- I'm just learning my way around.

I had a smooth install, with the exception of a few devices not working. Namely, my Logitech messenger quickcam and the tv-capture capability of my crappy ATI all-in-wonder 9000. So, from my searches online it looks like I might be screwed with the capture part of my ATI, but can anyone advise me on how to:

1) install my webcam - is it possible?
2) if I can't install the aiw capture, is it possible to install the ATI remote wonder that came with it?

Any help, even just a nudge in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, Christa

According to the Linux HCL here at LQ, the Radeon AIWs are compatible for most people with linux. I know the Radeon 9000 and 9200 are from personal experience compatible with SuSE. That would lead to the logical conclusion that yes, it is. And being as ATI makes linux drivers for the XFree and X11 systems, I would think you are virtually assured, that it is.
As for 100% confirmation, I can't give you that myself, but a google search yields a few people that have done it successfully(I wasn't looking for the incompatibles, so I don't know how many there were of that).
I think your odds are very good.

Thanks for the tip. I had checked several hardware compatibility lists, but for some reason I hadn't checked the one here.
I have to say that its the most helpful one I've seen online.

Looks like my webcam will in fact work and I'll be trying to install it this evening, but it appears that I am in fact screwed with the capture capabilities on the all in wonder 9000 --- if anyone has gotten this card to work with tv please let me know.

Also, anyone have any tips on the remote wonder? I've installed the latest lirc, but I can't seem to get any response when I run irw... are there some special configuration files changes that I need to know about?

Thanks again, Christa
