Fresh suse install, mouse lag/skipping, keyboard same


My mouse skips and has to catch up whenever I move it, it's not the settings, not the mouse, I tested both of these. Nor is it the keyboard or settings

logitech usb mouse
suse 9.1 64 bit
fairly new linux user (not my first install)

this is 9.1 personal, and I havn't compiled the kernel for 64 bit support
I havn't installed the drivers for my graphics card, maybe this is a problem?
and if somebody could point me in the right direction, as I am new to suse, that would help a lot.
