I didn't have to pay them...
But I also got the free DVD package they sent out a few months back....
Don't know if that has to do with anything though.....

Does the Yast Online Update work? You need to select a mirror that works best for your location.

Or do you mean, "Can I update v9.1 to v9.2 without paying Novell?"

Yes, of course you can, by downloading a net install ISO or a DVD from your friendly local mirror (that one's mine).

They now provide either the dvd installation disk at a local mirror. Or a mini installation cd which only download's the packages you need. For that look at this thread

1. Is that even proper english? lol...sorrry I had to ask

2. I don't think there is a need to pay Novel to update SuSE...if you have 9.1 Personal its open source (FREE!!). There should be a little icon on the systray that allows you to update SuSE with a couple clicks of a button.

My only question is, what are you trying to update?? and what sort of prompt did it come up with telling you that you neeeded to pay Novell?

The Enterprise version requires a support contract for You to work. Both 9.2 personal and professional have no such restrictions.
