Difference between SUSE 10.0 X86 and X86/64 performance

I currently installed SUSE 10.0 X86 on my system which supports 64 bit architecture at the time I didn't realize there was an X86/64 version available.

I guess my main question is should I go through the trouble of upgrading to the 64 bit version? Will it make a difference in performance? Are there any advantages in running the X86/64 version over the X86 version of SUSE 10.0?

TIA,

Ausm

I have used 386 and amd64 versions of both Ubuntu and Debian. I have noticed a difference in compile times, but everything else is the same. I switched back to 386 version because there is no amd64 version of macromedia flash, w32codecs, and openoffice. Using a 386 chroot environment is an option, but causes problems. My personal opinion is to stick with i386 until a larger fraction of the rest of the world switches to 64 bit computing.

Thanks I was thinking the same thing until there is more support for the 64 bit architecture.
