Cursor jumps randomly when entering data SUSE 11.0 (64 Bit)

I've had to go back to 10.3. This problem (Synaptics Touch Pad) has re-occurred with 11.0 making any data entry completely impossible.
The cursor just jumps randomly to some area in my document and then if i'm not looking data will get completely overtyped.

This only happens on a laptop with the touchpad.

Maybe disabling this touchpad might be a solution but I haven't found a way of disabling it.

Since most people HATE these touchpads anyway why can't they be easily disconnected.

I found the driver for SUSE 10.3 which "more or less" fixed the problem -- only get random jumps when posting to the web and then very rarely but on 11.0 data entry is virtually impossible.

Firing up a Windows XP PRO guest VM under 11.0 with vmware is fine. Windows data entry doesn't seem to have this problem.

Cheers

-K

I have the same problem, but it seems to be the sensetivity of the pad, if your hands are anywhere near it. If I make sure I don't lean on the area near the pad I don't have any problem. The Windows driver for the Synaptic touchpad has a setting to detect the "heal" of your hand and does something to the sensetivity. I don't know whether this is available in Linux. I've just upgraded to 11.0 on an Acer TravelMate 2304, and it is no worse than older versions of Suse. I have the same problem on other laptops with Fedora & Ubuntu.
