I have installed CUPS and there is my printer, recognized an ready to print. But, I cant print, not even test page. There is a message in CUPS : /usr/lib64/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed.
But I have installed foomatic-rip and the path is correct too. ????
Without knowing what printer - printer driver you are trying to connect through cups it is difficult to answer your question.
First, I would suggest that you go to http://www.linuxprinting.org/printer_list.cgi and enter your printer (make and model) and click on show to ensure that you are using the most appropriate driver.
I am using the foomatic foo2zjs driver on my Suse 10.1 x86_64 distro for my KonicaMinolta 2300DL color laser printer over IP without problem and I found the foomatic-rip file at the address you specified as 'failed'.
Hi minrich,
thanks for the answer. I have solved a problem by reinstalling the driver, foomatic and cups. I have Epson EPL-6200l laser printer. Now, after reinstalling SuSE 10.2 so many times (I am experimenting a few things) I know what to do when installing my printer. Everything is working smoothly now. But thanks again for your help.

Could you please describe the procedure that made the printer work? I have the same printer (Epson Epl-6200L) and I can't get it to work under OpenSuse 10.2.
Thank you very much for your help!
I have the same problem again. I was using SuSE 10.3A2 for a month and I was not able to install printer. I discovered that a PPD file is corrupted but I cant repair it. I do not know how. Now I am running SuSE 10.2 again. The same problem. PPD file. When I installed - successfully- the epson driver, there was a page on the web, where you can choose your printer and, accordingly, generate a PPD file and that was all. Now this page can not be find and the instructions which were on the web are not working. I am trying to find a solution.
