Chess game in SuSE9.1H

Hello

Sorry for the silly question. Im a super newbie in SuSE or any Linux. Just migrated over from Win2K 3days ago.

Regarding this posting, I wanted to play the board game Chess that come together with SuSE9.1, however, during the questions when I re-install the SuSE9.1 (cos I was trying out the RedHat 8.0, too ;p, in the end, I prefer SuSE9.1 ease of installation and more attractive background screen ) I didnt answer yes to some installation patches. Hence, now I cant play against the computer! i remember during 1st installation that I can play against the PC! ;p

Please help me! thx alot for all the troubles

before i forget, here's some specs of my 1st ever laptop (cost S$1293 ~ US$750) I cant afford the higher models/specs ;p hehehe

Acer Extensa 2350
1.3GHz Celeron M 340
Intel 855GME/852GM chipset
512MB RAM
DVD/CD-R combo drive
40GB HDD
3 USB ports
14" XGA TFT screen
Intel built in 3G Graphic card
16bit built in AC'97 sound card
Smart-Link built in modem
802.11b/g wireless LAN <------- cant seem to work ... any idea?

for those having same configuration as mine and intending to setup the modem, you have to download the smartlink-softmodem-2.7.9-89.i568rpm <---- shld be available with KDE3.2(??)

after downloading and installing the package, do a wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf to test out the modem. after that, use any editor, open up the wvdial.conf and do the necessary personal info + add in Carrier Check = no at the last row and save it up, overwriting the wvdial.conf file.

then type wvdial in the root dir. this help is courtesy of Mr Marvs of scanModem maintainer (linmodems.technion.ac.il/)

thank you n have a great weeks!

Click the "Configure Chess" or whatever it says and make sure you have it set up (I didn't install the patches either and it worked fine on mine). But unless you really pay attention, it isn't really worth it-- the game never told me when I was checkmated; I looked at every possible move before realizing this.

Hope you figure it out
