Apache in SUSE 10.2

I just installed SUSE 10.2 for the first time and cannot find Apache or http server in YAST. A search on opensuse.org showed me a screen print similar to the one on my installation (without http server under Network Services) but a screen print for YAST in 10.2 does show http server. I cannot find any comments anywhere on having removed http server from YAST, does anyone know what has changed since 10.1? Does anyone know what happened?

Do you mean in YAST software management module or the service configuration tool? Its definitely available in the software management module.

Thank you for your reply and my apologies for the delay in getting back to this thread. I was able to install Apache and it is running with its default settings. As of SUSE 10.1 you could configure the Apache server in YAST under Network Services under httpd server. DNS and Hostname, LDAP, Samba are all still there but not Apache or am I missing something?

It seems you do not yet install YAST-HTTP Server Modules.
Juts install form Yast->Software Management

Try search 'http' or look in Yast categories. I forgot the exact module name.

------------------------------
Edit:
sorry, I forgot. it was SUSE 10.1. There is no YAST Http module for SUSE 10.2 I think.

Yes, we can use etc/sysconfig editor to configure our apache server...

Sorry...and thanks

Thank You

Thanks for the input, I guess it is confirmed that Apache is out of YAST! I will look at the sysconfig directory and try to make sense of it. Everyone's time in posting replies is greatly appreciated.

It looks like Novell has done it to us again. In 10.2 you have to install some of the menu selections in yast Network Services that were there by default in previous versions. The easiest way to do it in kde is to run the Install Software applet from kmenu (click Kmenu then Applications then System then Configuration then Install Software). Once you're in install software, scroll down to the yast entries and select the menu items you want to install.

Thanks Jim, do you also happen to know how to do it from the command line. My install is text only.

You can also install in the character mode by running yast. In yast select Software - Software Configuration. Then run a search on "yast". Browse down through the Summary column and you will see a number of items listed as Configuration, eg. "YaST2-HTTP Server Configuration". Installing these items installs the yast menu for each.
I hope this helps.
