These websites bring you quite some information on the subject:

http://www.bolthole.com/solaris/x86-laptops.html

http://www.opensolaris.org/os/articl...x86_notebooks/

http://laptopsolaris.com/

And then you could "do a Google" on 'laptop solaris', which brings you to quite a lot of blogs of Sun engineers and other Solaris geeks that bring good information on the subject.

When you have the opportunity to test the laptop you want to buy, you might also try Sun's 'Device Detection Tool'.

If you are interested in 3D acceleration, Nvidia native drivers would be the best bet.
