Try opening
http://ibiblio.org/pub/packages/sola...6/5.10/catalog
with your browser.

If it works, i.e. if you got a text page with a list of packages available on the site, try again "pkg-get -i", it should work.

If it doesn't works, try another mirror site from the list in
http://www.blastwave.org/mirrors

To change the download site, edit you pkg-get configuration file
(/opt/csw/etc/pkg-get.conf) and update the line "url=", e.g.:
url= http://usesolaris.org/pub/csw/unstable

Great to know you finally succeeded !

Don't be fooled by the "unstable" word, it just means the builds are from more recent source. Read the page I already pointed to (http://www.blastwave.org/mirrors) for details about stable/unstable meaning.

What kind of Internet connection do you have ?
I never had any issue while pkg-getting blastwave's software.

Post the output of the commands:
prtconf -pv | grep model

to see if your graphic card is detected

.. the mplayer play avi or mpg files,no sound, tips the audio card didnt be opened. ..
.. 8086,24c5.1458.a002.2 - Audio device ..

Download "audioi810" audio driver from http://www.tools.de/solaris/audio/. Then install and reboot the machine.

And finally check if the newly installed driver is functioning properly, by plaing an audio clip:
eg., % audioplay /usr/demo/SOUND/sounds/train.au

If you don't hear anything even then, check the output of "dmesg" or look at "/var/adm/messages" for some clue(s)

also i have pointed right the mplayer button "mute",it cause the results:
not to open the audio card,i mixture...

could you give the right answer???

***************
and the other important questions, i think it is the pramary solaris learner question:
the video picutre from mplayer playing is very small.
i think ,maybe it is the resolving power very high.right????

---------
if you no do that, the mplayer cant be started.
why???

and if you renew open the terminal again, the path command will be still running again.overwise, mplayer will not work.

how to do settle and configuration the path in the solaris system inside, dont need type or copy the same command again ???

it is kind of strange about the solaris sounds.

mplayer play the avi file ,voice is excellent.
and mplayer play the mpg file ,first, the voice is well,
but later, the sound is disappeared ,no sounds again.

but running the command " xmms -p",tips likes this:
__________________
couldnt open audio

please theck that:

your soundcard is configured properly
you have the correct output plugin selected
No other program is blocking the soundcard

_____________________
i want to know where i can watch the soundcard output plugin selected.
where??
which application function ,which function menu????

.. it is kind of strange about the solaris sounds. ..

Still I cannot figure out if you have installed the "audioi810" audio driver yet. Please post the outputs for the following commands:

1) mixerctl
2) prtconf -D | grep audio
3) ls -l /dev/audio*
4) ls -l /dev/sound/*
5) What happens when you try this?: audioplay /usr/demo/SOUND/sounds/train.au

.. the video picutre from mplayer playing is very small. ..

Try to play with VLC player; sometimes (but not always) VLC plays it better, compared to mplayer. You can install VLC player from blastwave.org, with the help of "pkg-get".

.. let me relax!!!! give some advice. ..

Relax! Looks like you haven't had any prior Solaris experience. So, start from the basics. Start reading the documentation at Sun's web sites; and of course there are plenty of web sites with useful Solaris related content.
