What do you mean too with "I realized that the problem with OS itself".
As the same O/S is used on both machines, it's not the O/S that is faulty, but more likely the settings.
Or do you mean you installed a different release of Solaris on the laptop ?

I burned the images (from the archive) again on new blank CDs. Then I used these new set of CDs to install solaris on the laptop, I have not used the old set of the CDs.

That proves nothing, it is just one of the many differences between these two installs.
If the media is corrupt, Solaris won't install the impacted packages anyway.

Now that you have a working and a non working configuration, it should be "relatively" easy to compare both of truss outputs and see where they diverge.
