solaris terminal


Hello,
i am newbie on solaris,i opened a terminal but it not seems like other Unix systems such as ubuntu; all the time it gives me #
# cd /usr/ it gives #
how can i know in whitch directory i am ?
is there any solution ??

Hi,

Type the command pwd to know which directory you are in

Also use id command to know your own details(the user who is logged in and executing command)

You can switch to ksh or bash and have your prompt showing your current directory.

eg:

# ksh
# PS1='$PWD # '
/ #
