How can I get to Xsun and Xorg, any advice?
Thanks
Hi,zillah
I'm confused at the moment.
have you installed solaris successfully through text installation method.
or you haven't installed it for you could not go through graphic installation method?
I want to look into it because I am about to install solaris, at the existence of WindowXP and Linux, the same situation as
yours PC. What's more, I've just got a two button mice without wheel, so I'm worring that the same complain you encounted
will happen.
Once you've figured out the problem, would you post it out and explain it to all of us?
I will try and let you know as soon as possible, but I tried previous versions (7 and 8) of solaris without any complain from mouse, I do not why this happend here. Let us keep in touch till we find solution for this problem.
Distribution: Solaris 11.4, Oracle Linux, Mint, Debian/WSL

That way: (you are answering you own question)

What I did is :
1- I logined in from command line as root.
2- Type in "kdmconfig"
3- I received this
X Server Selection
[ ] Xorg server
[ ] Xsun server
Then what should I do to configure the mouse ? I do not know!!!
Try one of each choice an see what happen. With Xsun, you will be asked about your mouse setting. This will create a /usr/openwin/server/etc/OWconfig file that will contain your configuration.
If you choose Xorg, it will tell you how to create an Xorg.conf file (by running either "/usr/X11/bin/Xorg -configure" or "/usr/X11/bin/xorgconfig").
Move the xorg.conf file created to /etc/X11/xorg.conf
I haven't found a PS/2 scroll mouse to test on my laptop, so can't tell more, sorry.
Last advice, better to have your PC networked when you test these things, so you can have control on it should the graphic configuration is messed.
2- We have got 3 types of mice with these PCs (Come with package):
a- Tow buttons mice PS/2.
b- Three buttons mice PS/2 (Without wheel).
c- Three buttons mice USB (Not PS/2).see the mice here.
It worked only with option C.
3- I tried to use 2 buttons mice with wheel PS/2 (I borrowed from my friend)it did not work also, I have just tried it befor I wrote this reply. though I tried the same mouse with another PC PIII 865 GHz, it worked fine with out any problem.!!!
Why has the same mouse (worked with other PC but not with IBM (50 PCs) )?

Here is a Solaris 10 Xorg mouse configuration known to work with a PS/2 wheelmouse:
What should I configure to change this value ? Which file should I change?
