I'm quite a new user to Solaris (x86), usually I use slackware-current, but I thought I would give it a try. I'm having trouble getting my ethernet card to work in it....in fact I have no clue where to begin. Any suggestions?
Solaris check your Hardware during the installation, and detect your Network Card automatically. After that you only must configure it, with IP, DNS ........ or DHCP. Everything happens during the installation. If it doesn't work, check if your card is supported by Solairs. What Card do you have?

I have a Linksys 100TX Fast Ethernet card...it asks for the information for it such as IP and all that, but when I login and I ifconfig -a it only shows loopback.
