Increase memory size of oracle 8i running on solaris 10

I am using oracle 8i with solaris 10. Now I am trying to increase the value of shminfo_shmmax in /etc/system file. How can I do that?

Thanks in advance.

Open the file with an editor...change the value...save it...reboot.

Also, Oracle 8 is VERY old....according to the Oracle web site, it was end-of-life and unsupported since 2004.

Editing /etc/system would have no effect as shminfo_shmmax is obsolete under Solaris 10 and newer.

There are still ways to set it but the default one 1/4 or RAM should work for most if not all cases.
