thanks 4 reply i have used samba in fedora and suse. but i have not permittion to install packages on system. my boss is very scrupulous and he don't allow to install packages.:tisk: i haven't enough time to install and configure samba, too. is there another option, except samba?? |
Veritas Net Backup can be ur alternate choice but again u need to add packages for it, if Veritas Net Backup is already installed on ur system u may go with it ( I assume that it is installed cuz ur working in corporate company, and there usually have it )

Hi
If you can ssh to the box, try the scp command (man scp). On the windows box, download putty and pscp from same download page - which is a Windows version of the command. |
hi friends
It is very laughable and foolishly no one of this directives exist in my system. in my home i can use them. when i run scp or man scp it prompts following error: scp: not found no manual entry for scp i test /bin and /etc folders. but i couldn't find them. plz help me. |

Still doesn't exists, but at least you give enough information to get it:
You are running Solaris 8 (kernel SunOS 5.8). The issue is this aging version doesn't bundle ssh so you need to install it from a freeware repository like sunfreeware or blastwave. If your boss doesn't want you to install packages either on the windows side or on the Solaris one, then I'm afraid you are stuck. |
hello friends. all of this methods are the ways to transfer data on systems. but i want to share a specific folder, not upload to samba server o r using scp to copy.
how to i can share resources in solaris and windows merged networks??? |
There are no protocols to do that out of the box. You need to install something somewhere.
