As I wrote, the companion CDs contain a collection of open source freewares compiled for Solaris 10. There is a list of packages on the page you linked to.

Thanks a lot for you valuable words!
But I am still don't understand why am I asked to get version of OSs and then decide which CD to buy?
Are you going to update packages on Server, stuff like that, why do we need companion CD ?

The answer is on the page you posted a link to:
Make sure that you know for sure which level of Solaris you are using by looking at the /etc/release file on your system. For example, on a SPARC Solaris 10 Update 9 system, you will see an s10s_u9wos entry or you might see s10x_u8wos for x86 Solaris 10 Update 8.

The companion CD is a collection of software built for/with a specific update. You probably can use a lower companion CD update with a newer Solaris update but the opposite might not be true. That's up to your administrators/users to say what they need in the companion CD.

Thanks a Lot jlliagre!
Now I am going make list of all my Solaris version.
Suppost If I am having OS Solasis 10 update 7 then for this system which companion CD should I should go for
-1. Solaris 10 update 8
OR
-2. Solaris 10 update 10.
(I am new to Solaris particularly this stuff, so don't really know ,what exactly we are asked to do by client, looks like having latest packages inventory???)
Thanks a lot for all your post, really helpful, making my interest in Sun stronger.
