Changing hostname and ipaddress

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to change hostname and ipaddress in Solaris with out rebooting.

Evry time i change the ipaddress I have to reboot the system

I was told that I have to change in a lot of files like

/etc/hostname.hme0
/etc/inet/hosts
/etc/hosts

can I have the other files where I have to change

The IP address changes in those files does not take affect until you reboot. If you want to do it live, you must use the ifconfig command to change the settings on the interface.

Use the hostname command to change it dynamically. Change it in the files to make it permanent.

I was told the best way to change the hostname is to use the sys-unconfig command (man sys-unconfig) since the hostname seams to be stored on 6 differnet locations (at least on our Sun Fire 4800 we had to change it this way).

You can use sys-unconfig to change the hostname; however, you can also do it "live" if with the hostname command and then just change it in the files. The one disadvantage to sys-unconfig is that it requires you to reboot the server.
