I have an old Sparc 5 machine. I need to reinstall Solaris 8 from CD. Solaris 8 is currently installed on the HDD, but like I said, I need to reinstall from CD. When I boot the machine with the CD in the drive, however, it tries to boot as normal. How can I boot from the CD to begin installation? Thanks.
Huh?? I know that question must have been a stupid one, but what does "boot cdrom" mean, and where do I type that, at a command prompt after the machine has booted? What do you mean, trick?
If your already booted up, press STOP-A and it should bring your machine down to a prompt, you then type boot cdrom and it should boot off the cdrom at that point.
Or when your booting up, you can type that at the boot prompt.
