Cannot burn dvd image because volume manager is not running
Hi.
I tried, as always, to burn a DVD image onto the only DVD writer I have with
Code:
cdrw -i imagename.iso
an the output is
Code:
Looking for CD devices...
Volume manager is not running.
Please start volume manager or run cdrw as root to access all devices.
Nothing has changes since last time I burnt a DVD (just the Solaris Express Developer Edition 5/07 -> 9/07 upgrade).
If I insert a CD, the CD is automounted, so what volume manager is it complaining about?
Quote:
$ svcs -a | grep -i vol
online 3:59:01 svc:/system/filesystem/rmvolmgr:default
$ cdrw -l
Looking for CD devices...

I updated this thread just for information. I'll wait for the next SXDE release and let's see what happens.
The same problem appeared next time I was going to burn a DVD, yesterday, and I'm sure this wasn't passing with the previous version of SXDE, because the uptimes of the machine are comparable: tenths of days. There's something that gets something go nuts after a while and my user cannot see the DVD writer when I plug it in. It's not that troublesome, I run cdrw through pfexec, but if I had console users, this would be a great problem.
And I confirm that volume manager, despite cdrw misleading information, is running correctly because it manages other removable devices correctly (such as USB disks) and even restarting it, the problem persists.
Bye,
Enrico.

With Solaris10U3, I could only burn one DVD, then I'd have I reboot before I could burn another one. No errors, would pretend to burn properly, but I'd end up with a coaster every time!
