I have a V440 for upon bootup gives me the option of getting into ALOM with #. - I assume pretty standard. I don't have the ALOM password so I want to re-install Solaris 10.
When connected to the Management serial interface (on the PCI card) with either Hyperterminal or Terraterm, I cannot get to the ok prompt. I send a break and am given the following on the console:
SC Alert: SC request to send break to host
At this point I would expect the ok prompt. However, I am not given this, and am not able to type anything. The only thing I can do is send another break, upon which I am given the same message above.
Is there anything else I can try to get the ok prompt? It seems the boot device is the hard disk as well, not the cdrom, so I can't install that way either.
I haven't tried that as yet, however I am not getting an SC> prompt at all, and anytime I type in the console (apart from when I hit #.) I do not see this on the console. I will try however and let you know how it goes.
So I tried typing console -f when given the SC Alert: SC request to send break to host message. However as mentioned there is no response when I type anything, just a blinking cursor. The only thing it responds to is #. and sending a break.
i once ran into the same problem as you. if you have teraterm installed and send a break, the rsc console will give you the message you talk about. If the host is not switched on, you wont get the ok> make sure the host is switched (check if psu´s are working and the keyswitch to on)
then after sending the break, and giving a couple of returns should show you the ok>.
