Better screen resolution with OpenSolaris.2009.06?

Hi,
I am running OpenSolaris.2009.06 on Dell PowerEdge T410 server (x86 machine). It has Matrox G200 video card. Currently I am getting a maximum of 1024*800 screen resolution. There is no xorg.conf file under /etc/X11. Moreover, I am unable to find drivers for G200 card. My 26'' LCD display can support up to 1600 * 1050 (I think). Therefore, I have created xorg.conf file with the following details. When I rested the GDM, the maximum screen resolution I am getting is 840*600.. To get the default 1024*800 resolution, I have needed to delete the xorg.conf file and restart the GDM. Could anyone help me to get a better screen resolution, please? BTW, I have also posted this on OpenSolari forum, but there is no response.

The mga driver is present : $ find / -name "*mga*"
/usr/X11/share/man/man7/mga.7
/usr/X11/lib/modules/drivers/mga_drv.so
/usr/X11/lib/modules/drivers/amd64/mga_drv.so

According to 'man mga' and this, the G200* is supported :
http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Re...1-drv-mga.html
Quote : "The driver now provides support for Matrox graphic controllers included in Dell PowerEdge servers."

So you can try to replace "vesa" with "mga".
Alternatively, use an old supported Nvidia PCIe card.
Prices from $1? at eBay. ( I bought a 6600GT : 10cents.)

..

Hi knudfl,
Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, replacing vesa with mga is also not working.
May be I need to buy a graphics card for this.

Thanks.
