Could I add the rebuild instructions to rc.local in PT2 and then reboot ?
yes.
new kernel (6.4.0) added screen support.

the kernel can also be upgraded to x86 via the ROOT=<path of the mounted card> (the only thing to remember is to mount 2 partitions first and then the first one in boot/)

Ok, this is getting beyond my knowledge. Step by step please?

so on the microSD in the x86 laptop I have

mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/hd1
mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/hd2

then do I do

chroot /mnt
rebuild-initrd.sh [ this takes stdin commands? ]
exit

Trick is, that my slackware-15 x86_64 does not have 'mkimage' so when I mount the slarm and run rebuild-initrd.sh
it dies on line 47 ... did I forget to install something? mkimage is not in https://mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/s...t/FILELIST.TXT

mkimage is created when building images, you can build for x86

yes, they are $4.99 but shipping to CANADA is $30!
