Appreciate that, but it will require more testing. I'm not sure why that patch would prevent rebooting, but it appears that is the case since reinstalling the slarm64 5.16.2 kernel brings back the IRQ issue, but allows rebooting again.

When I installed my new kernel I also moved the arch/arm64/boot/dts/amlogic/meson-sm1-odroid-hc4.dtb file from the kernel build tree to /boot/dtb. Could that be related to the new reboot issue?

Testing the 5.17.1 kernel
- things seem pretty good on the hc4

Notes:
the uEnv.txt option below seems to no longer work
ethaddr=00:50:43:84:fb:2f

and the reboot still needs a powercycle.

Thanks,
I use this kernel on C4.

Yesterday I tested the SLARM for Odroid c4, with kernel 6.0.1. My other hardware is : Waveshare 7" touch screen, with HDMI at 1024x600 and audio output; local gigabit ethernet; Realtimeclock PCF8563, properly connected; several serial special extra devices on UART1,2,3 ; one powerbutton, which is handled by "wiringpi"-lib and some tiny own code.

Initially, I wanted to test the XFCE version, but it is 12 GB depacked and my EMMC storage is only 8GB, so I tested the "server only" version.

The server-only version is 7GB unpacked, it "just" fits on the EMMC:
Code:
/dev/mmcblk2p1 6.6G 5.6G 980M 86% /
/etc/ssh/sshd.config needs to be modded to "UsePAM No", so you can login via SSH. Otherwise you can't.

Starting to boot: Textmode: Text hangs down from above by approx. 20 raster lines, despite Kernel 6, it was never fixed since Kernel 5; and I am not even talking about the GUI here.
Boot time: 35 sec until the text login is ready, even despite fast emmc storage.

All important Overlays are missing, same as any other distro like DietPi and Armbian: No Uart-B, no PCF8563. No HDMI sound output. Video is buggy, hanging down 20 rasterlines whose color depends on an area next to the left/down startbutton; video is terribly slow - moving windows around smears; not to mention that it was a PITA to get the X window system working when you only initially have the command line.

Everything is looking very bad for my special hardware and performance needs!

The own "Remove Kernel stuff"-option removes all Kernel Compile Files - which are 3,8 GB .... which takes half an hour on emmc!

Can anyone make a TinyCoreLinux for Odroid C4, pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase ? With all hardware overlays ? In a working kernel 4.9.x ?
