Kernel Question

I'm trying to update to kernel-6.2.0 because Phoronix had some thing about updates to the RazPi being available in that. But the kernel package removed the /boot/dtb, /boot/dtbs, & /boot/overlays directories, and I hadn't got replacements in my first package.

I know these dtbs & overlays exist on github somewhere. Now I do also have a backup, so I can rsync them back in. What's the kosher way of assembling the package, so I can avoid messing when I upgrade next time?
