15.0 Sound problem

I went from Current of 11/21 to 15.0 recently. Update was to my ssd and went very well, except I lost sound.I have a RazPi 4 with 4G. I did it with upgradepkg, which kept the config.

I also have a working ~current on an sdcard, and compared Pavucontrol menus playing videos. I get audio on the level meter, but no sound. Comparing:
Code:
                   Working 15.0
  • Playback System Sounds System Sounds
  • Recording Nothing Nothing
  • Output Analog bcm2835HDMI Dummy Output Headphones bcm2835 No earphones
  • Input Nothing Nothing
  • Config HDMI_1 & Headphones 2835 Entirely greyed out
I'm at a loss. I remade the initrd with /sbin/mkinitrd because I made the first one in a chroot, and things like /sys aren't there. I was careful to use '-m ext4:bcm2835:bcma' but only bcma was added. Any ideas for me?

EDIT: I should mention I grabbed kernel 5.16.16 packages from current for the update, because there are are a few recently patched security bugs. I'm not using uBoot.

Kernel from the slarm64-15.0/current distribution?
The kernel used in the images is the Raspberry Foundation, go to the kernel.

Updated to kernel 5,16.7 which I think takes me past all the nasty kernel bugs (dirty pipe and the firewall thing). Sound is back, thanks very much. Now I can follow rule #1 of Electronic Maintenance.

Sound is fine now, but I've noticed this RazPi is not shutting down.

I get stuck on the line
Code:
"Exiting kwm virtualization"
or words to that effect. I can power off and the sky doesn't fall in. I didn't even know I had virtualisation going on.

I updated the kernel to 5.16.16, aarch64 provides support for virtualization, I tried running qemu with windows xp (it worked but slowly)
