anyone else having these issues with the latest 64-current iso dvd image?

Have there been any reports about the latest slackware64-current-install-dvd.iso having a problem? I get to the generating initial ramdisk part of the installer and then it bombs out.

ISO hash checked perfectly fine, so i know its a clean download.

Hi:

I looked online and didn't find any reports or articles confirming this issue.

Try choosing the huge.s kernel or the huge.s (KMS) kernel and see if it still hangs.

After reading this thread it sounds like it 'could' be an out dated version of elilo.

You might want to include the hardware specs of your machine. Make and model. Is your machine a Sony? Toshibia? Lenovo?
Post the output from the lspci command so others can see it to help you.
Give details like it's a UEFI machine or not and weather or not secure boot is disabled.

-:::-Another alternative might be to install using a usb stick instead.-:::-

Do you get the same result when you try to install Slackware current on another machine?

Is this where you downloaded your .iso?

It's not something with the ISO, it's a script that gets into an endless loop.

it's caused by a change in the installation process, and Patrick received several bug reports (accompanied by pictures and videos as well). Some reports are in the main Slackware forum here.
We don't have a clue yet as to what exactly triggers this error, but Pat has updates the mkinitrd package with a parameter check (it looks like it's the "-k" parameter to mkinitrd_command_generator.sh where things go downhill) and a meaningful message in case the issue is indeed with that parameter.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll grab that updated package mentioned in the other thread and give it another whirl.
