xpde

is there any way to create a slackware package (.tgz) out of the xpde tar.gz bundle? it contains the binaries and in the INSTALL file, it says to simply decompress it under /usr/share.

now what i'd like to do is create a slack package to easily remove it if i want to later on. how do i do this? can i simply use checkinstall even though there won't be any makefile or anything like that?

thanks in advance,
drisay

Make a script that extracts the tar.gz to /usr/share. Then run it with checkinstall to make a slackware package.

so i'd create a script like followsinstall.sh)

Code:
#!/bin/bash

tar -xvzf xpde.tar.gz -C /usr/share
is this correct?

and then run checkinstall install.sh correct?

another question... how does checkinstall track what's being copied where?

Yes. Don't forget to chmod +x it, and if you're root you'll have to do 'checkinstall ./install.sh'.
What checkinstall uses to track stuff
