twice now, i've upgraded xorg to 6.9 from the slackware site, and also doing a new install with the slackware-current cd issued by these guys
and both times, i cannot resolve the resolution on my monitor. it's either miniscule or it's huge, no matter what settings i use. i have an hp desktop with a celeron 2.9, and the standard intel81x, and it works perfectly under 6.8, but not 6.9. i cannot be the only person with this problem, but i also can't find any information either here or at google.
any ideas or suggestions appreciated...i'm at a loss here.
my solution is to just use 6.8.2. it works well and i just substituted the xap directory from current with the xap directory from 10.2 and all is fine.
Have you tried saving your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file then copy the saved xorg.conf back to /etc/X11 after upgrade.
i've tried that. it seems to be a matter of framebuffer? i had this problem before and fixed it by adding "vga=788" to the bootline in grub, however this doesn't seem to work for 6.9. i'm still playing with it, trying to find the right combo....it's a major headache tho....
i have an intel 845GV integrated thing. it works excellent in 6.8...but i'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to make it work properly in 6.9......if i figure it out, i'll post back here what i've done....good luck to you, too.
What numbers where? In xorg.conf? and if so, what things are you changing?
Reason I say this is to help others in the same boat....
the numbers i changed were actually while i was running xorgconf....when it came to accepting the modes, it gives you an opportunity to modify the modes, allowing me to choose which resolution i wanted by default...
