Xfce -- when watching video, LCD auto-adjusting to lowest brightness

Hello. I use Slackware 13 with Xfce as my default desktop.
I have noticed that when I watch video my laptop LCD auto-adjusts to its lowest brightness. And when I try to set it higher, after a few minutes it goes back again to the lowest.

It does the same in all media players (dragon player, mplayer, xine, etc.). But this only happens when I watch videos.

Hi,

The settings you are after can be found in the xfce 'Power Manager Preferences' under CPU (unlikely?) and Monitor Settings ---> Enable LCD Brightness Control.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried that and it's good, I can now watch movies with no auto-change brightness. But I have noticed that when I try to play flash videos (.flv files) the auto-change brightness problem goes back again.

I wonder what's wrong with those flash videos. I use mplayer to play them because other players like XINE can't play it (sound is distorted).

I have also noticed that Mplayer maybe the culprit here. Why? Because when I try to play those .flv(s) in XINE there's no auto-change brightness occur, only the sound's got broken.

So I think I will install VLC player to play those flv videos. That's what I'm using since 12.2 and I didn't encounter a single problem using it. I wonder why Slackware chose to include MPlayer instead of VLC. I like VLC more because MPlayer sometimes introduce errors in runtime.
