Release notes for 1.2.2
=======================
- general rework of the preferences dialog by our resident UI wizard
Simon Steinbeiss
- fix the 'no tooltips' regression by setting the default update
interval to 0.5s (workaround for #13536)
- tons of translation updates
I've been racking my brains about this but can't find a solution. Does anyone know why my browser[s] insist on using a light GTK theme when I select an email attachment? My main Xfce theme is on the left for the same folder, but when attaching a document, it comes up light as on the right.
Also I wish I knew how to get it to stop showing hidden files when I'm trying to select an attachment. Hidden file view is disabled in both Thunar and PCManFM.
I guess your file manager uses GTK2, while Vivaldi uses GTK3. Does it, actually? You can set a custom colour theme for Vivaldi, so it blends nicely with the rest of your desktop. However the file dialogues will use the default GTK3 theme.
just a guess
about the hidden files -- here, sometimes the file dialogue just seems to decide by itself to show me the hidden files... can be very annoying.

If your dark GTK theme supports only GTK2, then choose a similar dark GTK3 theme and place its gtk-3.0 folder in the folder of your GTK2 theme of choice (or make a symlink or whatever). So your theme's folder will have both gtk-2.0 and gtk-3.0 subfolders. It is an idiotic workaround, but it used to do the job, as you cannot just specify your GTK3 theme.

Right, partly solved. I did what you said and saw that it had a gtk-3.0 folder already, which was odd. So I went back to the install instructions for the theme. Now I see that didn't install it properly. The theme was in .local/share/themes when it should have been in the .themes folder. That also explains why some of my other themes aren't working properly!
The only issue is that now all the menu titles are squashed together as below. I'll look into this. For now the window manager looks great, it would be good to get the overall themes working properly too. The stock Xfce themes work great with gtk3 apps, whereas the one I've tried from xfcelook others don't.
Thank you, I tried it but it's the same issue. However, I think I've worked out what the problem is. A lot of the themes on Xfce Look give support for gtk 3.2+, whereas Slackware 14.2 uses gtk 3.18.
EDIT: I've tried all the dark 3.18 themes on Open Desktop but they just look dated. For now, I haven't found anything as good as Xfce Dusk.

Both nice, Black Pearl is definitely the better of the two. Not quite there though, I would hope that compatibility would be improved in 15.0. Still, there's no rush, I love 14.2.
