xf86config...command not found.

Ok, I dunno what happened, but for some reason I do not have an xf86config script anymore. I ran it before but not when i goto run it, it gives me command not found.

I started a fresh install of slack 9.1 (installed everything except kde and gnome). Later i installed gnome 2.6 (well dropline gnome 2.6), I was able to run the script to get everything working. But I'm having a few problems and I went to rerun the script and it isn't there.. The only thing I have done was install various apps (acrobat, gtetrinet,openoffce..etc) and It isn't there.

Anyway, this is only the beginning of my troubles..I searched this forum for anything and came up with nothing (perhaps i was searching the wrong key words). I only wanted to re-run the script because I isntalled (the latest) Nvidia drivers and they weren't working. Also my mouse wheel isn't working and I have no idea why (and yes i have Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" in the file).

Well enough of my problems, If anyone knows how to get it back or perhaps has an idea to why it went away...plz let me know. Sorry if this post is already posted..like i said, i didn't see anything with this.

Lightbulb Doesn't dropline change the xserver...

to xorg?

If so, try xorgconfig and it sould generate /etc/X11/xorg.conf

installing dropline gnome will move you to xorg as stated above.. xorgconfig should work for you as JWhitaker suggested.

also check this thread from Shilo -- http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=174447

read the precautions in the section about dropline
