Which Do You Prefer?

First, there will NOT be an "other" category, so let's not waste any electrons whining about it. Thank you.

Between the 4 options, which do you prefer?

Personally, I prefer Xfce-4.12 to them all, but if I had to pick between Xfce-4.14 and KDE, I would go with KDE-4. Between the two KDEs, KDE-4 would also be my choice.

I've used KDE since I started with Linux back with Mandrake 8.0. I like KDE5 over KDE4, but I really loved KDE3. Que sera, sera.

I can only vote for 1 option in the poll. So I chose XFCE 4.14 which I'm running on OpenBSD 6.6. I'm running XFCE 4.12 on six Slackware64-current work stations. I do plan to give KDE5 a spin when it lands in -current.

I voted XFCE 4.12, although I am warming up to LXQt, but so far neither takes me away from fluxbox or icewm.

I haven't tried xfce 4.14 or Plasma5, so I'd have to say KDE4 for now, but from what I've been reading, I imagine Plasma5 will be perfectly acceptable once I switch to it after 15.0 is released and I upgrade my system.

Since I haven't tried half the options, I will refrain from voting.

I've run KDE5 on bare metal installs and now in a Debian VM. From my experience KDE5 is light on resources and a pleasure to use. I suspect that KDE5 on Slackware64-current will run in a similar manner.

I didn't vote because I prefer Mate 1.24. I don't like KDE4, at all, xfce 4.14 is not bad but for my taste Mate 1.24 is better, and I don't know plasma5 so have no opinion about it. I just doubt it will be as accessible to the blind as Mate, and will have a contextual help as good as Mate.

As for today xfce4 4.12 is my favorite DE. Will give plasma5 a try in 15.

I voted for xfce4 4.12 as I'm running SW 14.2, when SW 15.0 shows up, I expect I'll move to xfce4 4.14

Alien Bob has made KDE5 a pleasure to use. My vote is KDE5 if the hardware specs support it. Fluxbox if the hardware specs are low.

Voted KDE5 (although I prefer Trinity with KDE's applications). Looking forward to seeing it in Slackware 15 (or whatever number it's given).

I answered based not on what's coolest or most visually appealing, that would be KDE 5 (Don't want to use that though)

XFCE 4.12.0 was the last good version of XFCE I had that I liked. I still have exactly that on an older Crux install on another box, I was sitting at that box using it the other day marveling at how nice it was.

I use Trinity Desktop now (and only the parts of it that I want).

I don’t use any of the listed DEs but out of them, would have to be KDE 5. Best DE feature wise I have used.
