vmware error, cant find c header files

Installing vmware 4.0 on slackware 9.0, I get to this:

Quote:
Using compiler "/usr/bin/gcc". Use environment variable CC to override.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]

The path "/usr/src/linux/include" is not an existing directory.
I have heard I need to install my kernel source or kernel developement tools in order to get this? If thats what I should do, how do I do it?

If its not, then what should I do? Thanks.

Where do those install to? I found linux/version.h in /usr/include, but vmware warns it doesn't know if /usr/include are the same ones used by the kernel. I try installing it anyway, but then installation fails. It made more stuff appear in the original directory I had my libs, but not version.h...

Maybe I should recompile my kernel like it suggests?

Get everything from this page:
http://www.slackware.com/pb/search.p...&string=kernel

And no, they're not normal archives... install them using installpkg.

Cheers!

I don't think you need to. But if it still doesn't work, then probably you should give it a try.
