unnecessary user accounts


sorry for the question... ( > < )
but can somebody give me a link where the user-accounts from a standard setup and there usage are described ?
which one can be deleted etc...
btw.:
what is the operator account good for ?

I'm unaware what the operator account is used for myself but maybe someone else can answer that question for you. I also don't have a link to give you but the adm, uucp, ad operator account can be safely deleted from /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow. You may also want to add /bin/false or /bin/nologin depending on your distribution to bin, daemon, ftp, games, lp, mail, news, http, nobody.
